10/19/14 UPDATE

BAND BLOG BULLETS

- MAIS Marching Band Festival @ JA Saturday, 10/25 -- short but important parent meeting Thursday 6:30 to discuss the event. Saturday schedule is below.

- BOA San Antonio trip is fast approaching -- all payments are now PAST DUE. Please take care of any outstanding balances so that we can cover trip expenses.

MAIS MARCHING BAND FESTIVAL

Volunteers are still needed for the festival, which will be at JA's Raider Field on Saturday afternoon.

BAND GUIDES - This is a fun and easy but very important role. Each visiting band will have one person to meet them at checkin, and stay with them through warmup and performance.  This makes visitors to our campus feel welcomed, and it helps to keep the show on schedule.

PARKING - One or two volunteers are needed to help direct buses and equipment trucks.

Please come to the parent meeting on Thursday, 10/23, at 6:30 pm in the Band Hall, for more information about these and other roles. You can also email Jamie Niemeyer at JNiemeyer@sfbcic.com.

BOA SAN ANTONIO TRIP

There will be a parent meeting to distribute trip information on Tuesday, 10/28, at 7:00 in the band hall (during evening rehearsal).

Each student will need to bring enough meal money for lunches and dinners on the trip, usually fast food. Breakfast is complimentary each morning at the hotel.

There are also a couple of optional activities for which students may want to bring money.

At Six Flags Fiesta Texas on Friday night, admission tickets will be provided to each student. These tickets provide admission to the park, and all rides and shows. If a student would like an extra dose of "thrill", there are wristbands available for purchase that allow admittance to several premium haunted houses in the park. These wristbands are $20.

On Saturday morning and early afternoon, if there are enough students who wish to go, we will take the bus to Natural Bridge Caverns. There are caverns, a rope course/zip line, and maze, with pricing determined by choice of activities. Click on the link for more info: Natural Bridge Caverns

If you have any questions about the trip, contact trip planner Sue Guindon at sue.guindon@gmail.com.
