WINTERGUARD

Congratulations to the JA Winterguard for a fine showing at the MIA Field Day at Pearl HS on Saturday. The group were first in Movement and Second in their Class.

The next event for the guard will be rehearsal on Saturday, February 2, from 12:00 - 5:00 in the gym.

The next competition will be the Germantown HS show on February 9.

CONCERT BAND SECTIONAL SCHEDULE

We have finalized the after school sectional schedule for our concert band members:

MONDAY - 3:00 - Christian; 3:45 Bass & Bass Clarinet

TUESDAY - 3:00 - Clarinets;

WEDNESDAY - 3:00 - Aaron; 3:45 - Anna Claire

THURSDAY - 3:00 - Saxes, Drums, & Keyboards; 3:45 - Kayla

FRIDAY - 3:00 - Flutes; 3:45 - Mason

JA BAND BOOSTERS

All JA Band families are encouraged to attend the JA Band Booster meeting on Monday, January 21, at 6:30 pm in the Band Hall.

WINTER GUARD

Something borrowed, something blue (then painted grey) - thanks to Annie Campbell, Chase Oswalt, and Tracy Carter for helping Mrs. Carter create the guard mat this weekend. This is the old mat that was used by the 2004 Grand National Class Champion JA Marching Band, which had been purchased in 2006 by the Madison Central Band. Thanks to Madison for allowing the JA guard to borrow the mat.

6:00 pm - Report to Pearl for night show - Body Suits and Black Dresses

SECTIONAL REHEARSALS

The sectional rehearsal schedule for concert band is still being tweaked to best meet the needs of our student musicians. We will discuss the schedule in class and post the final details when they are available.

1/13/13 UPDATE

 MAIS CONCERT BAND CLINIC

Congratulations to the 15 members of the JA Band who participated in the MAIS Concert Band Clinic last week. Twelve of the 15 earned spots in the first band.

The clinic was one of the largest ever, with 110 student musicians from independent schools around the state. JA alumna Tracy Carter conducted the second band.

Thank you to the students for their exemplary behavior throughout the clinic. Thanks also to Cindy Jordan for helping to transport students to Hinds on Thursday.

1/6/13 UPDATE

Happy New Year to all our JA Band families and friends!

Sectional concert band rehearsals will begin in the next few weeks. Each section will have one weekly rehearsal 3:00 - 4:00. We will discuss scheduling with the students this week, so that we can avoid conflicts.

All clinic activities will take place on the campus of Hinds Community College, with lodging Thursday night provided at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center for those who plan to stay overnight.

If you have not let us know who your child plans to room with, please send an email by the end of the day Monday. Here are the costs for lodging:

2 students per room - $42.50 each
3 students per room - $32 each
4 students per room - $24 each

WE MUST HAVE PAYMENT FOR THE ROOM BY TUESDAY. Make checks payable to Jackson Academy. We will pay with one school check in order to save tax on the rooms.

IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT, WE WILL ASSUME YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE STAYING OVERNIGHT.
