The JA Jazz Band had their first performance of the year this week, at the Black History Assembly on Thursday.

The Sixth Grade Band also performed this week, at the Patriotic Day festivities on Friday. The band performed several patriotic songs arranged for them by USM doctoral candidate Jason Mathena.

Both performances were enthusiastically received.

BOOSTER PRESIDENT'S CORNER - Martha Ray

Thanks very much to all of you who came Friday night to help with our Valentine's Parents Night Out!  It was a huge success! Thanks especially to Hope Burford for putting it all together and managing everything. Thanks also to Mr.Carter and his band for providing top-notch entertainment!  Y'all are great!

We also would like to thank Kate Bowman and  the band students selling Valentines to the junior and senior high students! We really appreciate the work you're doing to benefit the band!
It was fun to see everybody last week. Thanks again for your help!

Additional note from event organizer Hope Burford: Special thanks to Reggy & Michele McDaniels for providing the snacks, the parents for taking their time to help, and the students for having such a great attitude with the children.  A great time was had by all.

A few photos from the evening, thanks to Wendy Hutchins:

Upcoming JI events:

Note from Mr. Carter:

I had the opportunity to watch the final run of Jackson Independent's show in the old gym Saturday about 6:00pm.  Congrats to the guard members, to Cammie, & to show writer Lenny Westmoreland. This show is sophisticated, complex, well-constructed, and very well taught; and the performance level improves each week.  Regardless of the outcome of any of the upcoming shows, I want to congratulate the JA girls. I am very proud of you.
