4/19/15 UPDATE

JA BAND BANQUET

The JA Band Banquet will be Monday, May 11 in the JA PAC, at 6:30.

All JA Band students, in grades 6-12, will be recognized for their efforts and achievements throughout the year, and a retrospective slide show will be presented.

The banquet will include a catered dinner of smoked chicken, ribs, potato salad, green beans, baked beans, rolls, cobbler, and tea.

Cost for the banquet will be $15 per person, for both band students and family members.

Please contact Charlette Oswalt (charletteoswalt@gmail.com) by MAY 4 to let her know how many tickets your family will need.

Be sure to spread the word to family and friends about the spring concert on May 4, spotlighting all student musicians from grade 6-12.

SPRING CONCERT

All band students, in grades 6-12, will perform at the Instrumental Music Spotlight, on Monday, May 4, at 7:00 in the PAC.

Please invite family & friends to come out to support these student musicians.

BAND BANQUET

Plans are being finalized for the JA Band Banquet, for band students in Grades 6-12 and their families. It will be held on Monday, May 11.

It will be a catered dinner at the PAC. Costs and other details will be announced in the blog next week.

FALL 2015

The complete fall calendar is still being developed, but be sure to mark your calendars for the following important dates:

BAND CAMP - July 27-31 and August 3-7 - 8:30 - 5:00 each day

BOA ST. LOUIS SUPER REGIONAL - October 16-18

Happy Easter to the JA Band family!

TOWNSHIP JAZZ FESTIVAL

The JA Jazz Band has been invited again to perform at the Township Jazz Festival in Ridgeland this Saturday, April 11. The JA Band will perform from 12:30 - 1:00. There is no admission charge. Please spread the word to families and friends.

All band members should report to the tent at the Township at Colony Park (1111 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland) by 12:00 on Saturday. Attire is navy Jazz Band polo shirts, or any navy JA polo, with shorts or jeans.

We encourage students to arrive in time to listen to and support the student musicians of the Ridgeland HS Jazz Band (11:00 - 11:30) and Madison Central HS (11:45 - 12:15).

CUM LAUDE SOCIETY

Congratulations to JA Band seniors Grady Fisher and Maggie Hubbard, and juniors Tyler McClellan and Hannah McCowan, for their induction into the Cum Laude Society this week. They join current member senior Will Tribble.

SPRING CONCERT

Mark your calendars and spread the word to family and friends about the JA Band Program Instrumental Music Spotlight, which will be Monday, May 4, in the PAC. All students in the band program, from grades 6-12, will perform.

3/29/15 UPDATE

What a great weekend for the JA Band Program! The JA Concert Band had an outstanding performance on Friday, and the JA Winter Guard completed their undefeated season with an MIA Championship on Saturday.

JA CONCERT BAND

The JA Band impressed the crowd and judges with an excellent performance at the MAIS Concert Band Festival in the PAC on Friday.

The band received perfect scores from all judges, as well as glowing comments. David Willson, Director of Bands at Ole Miss, called them "One of the best bands in the state."

This event completes a "perfect season" for the JA Band, with perfect scores at the MAIS Marching & Concert Festivals, and the Class A Championship at BOA San Antonio.

JA WINTER GUARD

The JA Independent Winter Guard earned MIA Class Champion honors with a beautiful performance at the MS Coliseum on Saturday. The event drew 1300 participants from around the state and attracted thousands of spectators.

The Guard earned the highest score of the day of all 49 groups at the event, both overall (82.13) and in every caption.

APRIL 11 - The JA Jazz Band will perform at the Township Jazz Festival in Ridgeland at 12:30 pm

The event, in its 8th year, is a great celebration of local musicians and groups.

3/1/15 UPDATE

JA BAND SCHEDULE UPDATE - BAND & GUARD

MONDAY, MARCH 2 - Select Jazz Band members @ Features Pageant, PAC. Participating students have been notified by Mr. Carter. These students should report by 6:15 pm, in black attire.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4 - Pre-fest Concert Band performance at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. This event is a "dress rehearsal" of sorts for the MAIS Concert Band Festival. Here is the schedule for the day:

11:30 - Students dismissed to Band Hall. They should bring a lunch to eat before we leave campus. They have permission to wear concert black to school that  morning, or change before we leave.

12:00 - Load school bus and depart. Mr. Bunch will drive the bus to Co-Lin

3:30 - Return to JA
