HIGH SCHOOL BAND

MONDAY, 3/2 - Jazz Band at Features Pageant, PAC

WEDNESDAY, 3/4 - Concert Band at Cophiah-Lincoln CC. Dismissal 11:30, will be back to school about 3:30

TUESDAY, 3/17 - Concert Band rehearsal 7:00 - 8:30 pm

TUESDAY, 3/24 - Concert Band rehearsal 7:00 - 8:30 pm

FRIDAY, 3/27 - MAIS Concert Band Festival, PAC, approximately 2:00 performance

2/15/15 UPDATE

CONCERT BAND

We have some updated important dates for the Concert Band. Please mark your calendars.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4 - Concert Band Festival, Copiah Lincoln Community College

The band will be dismissed at 11:30, have lunch in the band hall, and travel to Co-Lin using the school bus, driven by Mr. Bunch. They will be back at JA by about 3:30 that day.

FRIDAY, MARCH 27 - MAIS Concert Band Festival in the JA PAC - approximately 2:00 performance time

MONDAY, MAY 4 - JA Band Program Spring Concert,  PAC

This concert will showcase all members of the JA Band Program, including the Sixth Grade Band, the Seventh Grade Band Class, the High School Concert Band, the Jazz Band, and a Senior Ensemble.

SECTIONAL REHEARSALS

MONDAY - Holiday
TUESDAY - Flutes, Clarinets, Percussion
WEDNESDAY - Trombones
THURSDAY- Trumpets
FRIDAY - Saxes

SCIENCE & MATH COMPETITION

JA Band members Will Tribble, Hannah McCowan, and Tyler McClellan were on the 12-student team from JA that competed at the Science & Math competition at Mississippi College last week.

The team finished 3rd in the oral portion and 4th in the written, out of 45 teams.

Individually, Hannah placed in the top 1% in Biology and the top 10% in Chemistry. Will placed in the top 10% in Math.

Congratulations to Will, Hannah, and Tyler!

WINTER GUARD

Congratulations to the guard for another successful weekend competition.  They traveled to Brandon HS, where they earned the highest score of all groups at the event both overall and in every caption!

2/8/15 UPDATE

WINTER GUARD

Congratulations to the JA Winter Guard for two great runs at the WGI Nashville Regional Championship this weekend. The guard earned a 71.99 score in their finals performance, sixth best of the 27 units at the competition.

Thank you to Brent & Terri Fisher, Nikki Williams, Bob and Hope Burford, and Noel Alford for driving to Nashville.

WINTER GUARD

Best of luck to the winter guard as they travel to Nashville this weekend for the Winter Guard International Regional Championship. The event will have 27 participating groups from 9 states.

Congratulations to the JA Independent Winter Guard for a very successful weekend. The guard earned the highest score of all 24 groups at the Brandon HS MIA show on Saturday.

WINTER GUARD

The JA Winter Guard's first performance event is this Saturday, MIA Field Day and Night Show at Brandon HS.

SATURDAY, 1/24

1:15 - Load and depart for Brandon
3:00 - Field Day performance

7:15 - Meet at Brandon fully dressed
8:45 - Night show performance
10:00 - Retreat

SUNDAY, 1/25

Sectional rehearsals begin this week. All sectionals are 3:00 - 4:00.

1/11/15 UPDATE

JAZZ BAND

The Jazz band will be performing this Thursday, January 15, for an important JA community event, the presentation and discussion of the new JA Mission Statement.

The band will play before the 3:30 staff presentation, and again before the 5:30 meeting for the JA Community.

Students may stay in school attire for the performances. They should be dismissed by 6:30.

MAIS CONCERT BAND CLINIC

JA Band members Aaron Dallaire, Kenneth Niemeyer, and Ilana Dallaire participated in the MAIS Concert Band Clinic this week.

Here Aaron -- who earned second chair status in the top band -- sits in with the Capital City Jazz Band.
